Open Newswire, February 2, 2008:   An overflow crowd filled the First Unitarian Church in Louisville, Kentucky to show support for the statewide citizen’’s group, Kentuckians for the Commonwealth (www.kftc.org) .  Many Participants pledged to support KFTC’s work, joining the “I Love Mountains” Valentines Day citizen lobby efforts on February 14 in Frankfort, the Kentucky Capitol.  KFTC is supporting legislation to limit mountaintop removal, support tax justice, and save streams threatened by coal mining, among many citizen initiatives.  Over $6,000 was raised for KFTC, and a good time was had by all.   The Benefit concert featured music and presentations by:   Ron Pen - Director, John Jabcob Niles Center for American Music Wendell Berry - Poet, author, farmer and new agrarian, Randy Wilson -  Folk artist from the Hindman Settlement School Nora, Ben & Eli - Jazz, Irish, and Appalachian Folk Rich Kirby and the Po’ Folks - Old Time Stringband music. Cari Norris - Old time ballads, hymns, and original music.  Reel World String Band - American roots music.
